Seattle Public Schools enthusiastically encourages family involvement in schools. Advocacy groups, such as Parent Teacher Student Associations (PTSAs) and other parent-teacher organizations (PTOs) help make our schools vibrant learning communities.

This guide is intended to provide PTAs, PTSAs, and other parent-teacher organizations with quick access to District resources that will support their work.

Alliance for Education School Based Accounts

Seattle Public Schools and the Alliance for Education have been partners for 20 years. However, increasingly over time SPS and the Alliance could not agree on alignment of funding priorities, and tone of the partnership. The decision was made to restructure the district relationship with the Alliance for Education.

Although the Seattle School Board November 2015 action directs Superintendent Nyland to dissolve the relationship, the Alliance will continue to manage the school-based (PTSA or booster club) accounts through the end of the school year, June 30, 2016.
