Apply to the SPS Nutrition Services Policies Task Force
Seattle Public Schools is seeking a diverse group of community members to serve on the Nutrition Services Policies Task Force, whose purpose is to assist Seattle Public Schools staff in developing School Board policies and Superintendent procedures.
Our goal is for the task force to include family and community members who represent the diversity of Seattle Public Schools and who can provide valuable insight for the Nutrition Services Policies Task Force
The task force will meet four times beginning December 2016 and ending February 2017. Meetings will be held Tuesdays from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. on the following dates:
December 13, 2016
January 17, 2017
February 7, 2017
February 28, 2017
Role of the Task Force
The primary purpose of the Nutrition Services Task Force is assist the Superintendent in revising policies and procedures that:
Align with Policy No. 3405, Student Wellness, and identify strategies that support providing opportunities to close the gap in student achievement;
Include all requirements of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) while providing cost effective meals that support the district’s culturally diverse population;
Include appropriate recommendations from the Washington State School Directors Association model policy and procedure; and
Identify and incorporate best practices as contained in the Prismatic Services, Inc. consultant study of Seattle Public Schools Nutrition Services Department; and
Create policies that increase meal participation rates to ensure that each and every student has access to nutritious foods to enable them to focus on learning.
