Seattle Math Teachers Highlighted by City

A group of SPS teachers is being highlighted on the City of Seattle’s Seattle Channel this week for their work to change the math mindset of hundreds of students.

It’s a myth that some people just aren’t good at math. And 16 SPS teachers are working hard to prove it.

With the help of a Family and Education Levy-funded program called Empowerment Math Project (EMP), teachers are changing students’ approach to math. When they’re handed a tough math problem EMP teaches them to be creative and collaborative.
