Artwork submitted by two Seattle Public Schools high school students were named Regional Award Winners, and three additional students received awards for their artwork in the Regional High School Art Show, an annual event hosted by the Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD).
Regional Award Winners Ava Code-Williams from Garfield High School and Huo Xian Wu from Franklin High School will advance to the 42nd Annual State High School Art Show in Olympia. Code-Williams won for her scratchboard work "You Have Your Mother's Eyes." Xian Wu won for his wood piece "Pandora's Bowl"
Outstanding Achievement Awards went to Amelia Dixon-Shapiro of Garfield, for a work of excellence in scratchboard ("Old Boy"), and Emma Eder of Franklin for excellence in wood - lathe-turned. Kellene Wong of Franklin received the King County Executive Award.
The Regional show is open to high school students from Pierce County, King County and Bainbridge Island. This year the Art Show received a record number of entries in a variety of media. The show is currently on exhibit at the Puget Sound Educational Service District, 800 Oakesdale Ave SW, Renton. The public is welcome to stop by to view the exhibit and cast their vote for People's Choice award until Tuesday, March 17.
