Aki Kurose Middle School Principal, Mia Williams, is taking part in a panel discussion at the White House in Washington D.C. this week.
Williams was Invited by the Johns Hopkins University's Everyone Graduates Center to share her experience and expertise using early warning systems, student success mentors, and enhanced student support systems to reduce chronic absenteeism.
The specific goal of the panel is to brainstorm ideas to reach all 6th and 9th graders who are chronically absent within participating districts.
Johns Hopkins University is also recognizing Williams for her dedicated and powerful leadership she provides for, not only Aki Kurose, but schools across the district.
