Dr. Nyland's State of the District 2015
On Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, Seattle Public Schools presented the annual State of the District.

Amid a performance by the elementary school choir, the John Rogers Otters, and Seattle's first Youth Poet Laureate and Cleveland High School senior Leija Farr's reading of her poem "For Black Boys," Superintendent Dr. Larry Nyland highlighted the achievements of educators and staff, community partnerships, and students of the past year as well as the challenges and opportunities for the future at the district.
Kent Koth, executive director of Seattle University Youth Initiative's Center for Community Engagement, shared observations about their partnership with district to support students at Bailey Gatzert Elementary School, Washington Middle School and Middle College.
