    Student Assignment Plan Task Force

    Seattle Public Schools is beginning the process for developing recommendations for the improvement of the Student Assignment Plan. This plan should provide every student with access to a high quality education that supports achievement for all students. The plan should provide equitable access to programs and services, and provide transparency in the enrollment and school choice process.

    Expected Timeline

    The tentative target date for completion of recommendations is Fall 2018.

    Role of the Task Force

    The task force will carry out two objectives:

    1. Review the Student Assignment Plan and most recent Student Assignment Transition Plan in order to merge the two documents into one document that is easier for families to navigate.
    2. Develop recommendations for an equity focused enrollment process clearly outlined within the written plan and transition plans. In doing so, task force members are expected to help review the sections of the plan, select areas that need clearer language and transparency, and identify ways to incorporate input from Seattle Public Schools stakeholders.

    Task Force Membership

    Our goal is to ensure there is a balance of perspectives and backgrounds on this task force. It will be representative of our Seattle Public Schools students and families. The task force will be comprised of teachers, principals, parents/guardians, community members, and staff members from various departments at our central office.

    Responsibilities of Task Force Members

    • Attend all scheduled meetings
    • Assist in reviewing materials
    • Contribute to the group's work
