Dear Seattle Public Schools families,

The tragic mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday has left our district and the nation in a state of grief.

In the aftermath, we want to share support resources and our commitment to the safety and well-being of every student in our care.

Students are likely feeling the impact of this devastating event. They may have heard about it at school, from the media, or from friends. Your student may be feeling uneasy, scared, confused or angry.

Because the event happened at a school, students may feel a heightened concern about their safety in their schools or communities. The well-being of our students is our top concern. We have put numerous measures into place to ensure schools are safe, and to provide a place where students feel cared for and find comfort.
