UW Upward Bound Applications Due Feb. 10

Chief Sealth, Cleveland, and Franklin 9th and 10th graders are encouraged to apply to UW Upward Bound. 

The TRIO Upward Bound Program application with the University of Washington’s Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity is now open. The deadline is Feb. 10.     

The program serves eligible low-income and/or first-generation students at Chief Sealth International, Cleveland STEM, Franklin high schools. Services are offered at no cost to students. Per federal guidelines, students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. 

UW Upward Bound offers a rigorous six-week Summer Academy on the UW campus. During the school year, they offer the following services in partner high schools:     

  • Reading, Writing, Math Tutoring  
  • Career Exploration  
  • Financial Workshops  
  • SAT Preparation Services  
  • College and Scholarship Application Assistance  

UW Upward Bound works in partnership with Seattle Public Schools. UW Upward Bound seeks 9th and 10th grade students who are low-income and first in their family to attend college. For over 50 years, UW Upward Bound has supported students to be successful in high school and earn a college degree. Over 90% of participants enroll in college in the fall after their senior year. Many go on to earn professional or advanced degrees. Learn more about the UW Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity.
