Students Can Get a Jump Start on a Career in Construction
Earn While You Learn
Construction is the number one vocation of those who choose to enter the workforce instead of pursuing college. Seattle has high demand for such workers with major construction projects popping up around the region.
The Seattle Public Schools Skilled Trades Pre-Apprenticeship is now a labor and industry recognized training program where students can earn priority hire into a variety of trades apprenticeships. This program is one of just a few high school-based pre-apprenticeships in the state, giving our graduates a jump starts on construction careers.
Construction trades provide high-paid, no-debt career paths with retirement, health care, and equitable wages. Once you are in an apprenticeship training program, you are working on a construction site, learning your trade from skilled professionals and getting paid.
Pre-apprenticeship training classes provide students with early training in preparation to do construction work.
In our half-day, graduation pathway course, students earn Career and Technical Education (CTE), applied math, and science credits, while exploring hands on modules in more than a dozen trades like carpentry, ironwork, cement masons, glaziers, and pipe trades.
Students also can earn an associate degree as well as valuable industry certifications like flagger, First Aid/CPR, and forklift as well as college credit in welding.
