Meet the SBIRT Staff

Healthy Schools Coordinator

The Healthy Schools Coordinator is based in the district office. They develop best practices, track grant requirements and deadlines, and analyze data to identify trending concerns, program disparities, and needed program support. They also report and distribute relevant anonymous data to schools, families, students, other departments, and funding entities.

Lindsay Bolender, M.Ed (She/her)

Lindsay Bolender

Lindsay has been working within the King County SBIRT program since its implementation in 2018 and within Seattle Public Schools since 2021. She earned a Master in Education Policy from the University of Washington in 2021. Prior to SBIRT, Lindsay worked for ten years in early-childhood education. The things that keep Lindsay healthy and happy are reading, hiking, paddle boarding, travel, and dance.

Prevention and Intervention Specialists

Prevention/Intervention (PI) Specialists are school-based professionals trained in brief intervention best practices & motivational interviewing. Along with school counselors, school social workers, and school administrators, PI specialists respond to and meet with students who indicate a need for support.

Amber Ladd (She/her)

Amber Ladd

This is Amber’s 13th year at Aki Kurose Middle School and her 2nd year as the Prevention and Intervention Specialist. Amber likes to think of herself as a professional aunt, which feels like the best job in the school. Amber has a degree in Early Childhood Education from North Seattle College. She is a plant lover and always loves to talk plants and gardening.

Drea Jones (She/her)

Drea has been working within the SBIRT program since 2023. Drea earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington State University in 1996 and has served public education in a variety of roles ever since. As a certified Transformative Life Coach, Drea has strived to make a difference in the lives of students. In her free time, Drea enjoys cycling, hiking, yoga, travel, and spending quality time with her family.

Louis EagleStaff (He/Him)

This is Louis’ 2nd year working in SBIRT. His goal is to increase resources, parent/student engagement, and provide as much support as possible – so feel free to reach out! This is Louis’ 8th year in SPS, but he has worked in education over 20 years. He is also the Co-Athletic Coordinator for RESMS and believes that sports offer a great outlet. In his spare time, he spends as much time with his daughter as possible.

Maria Torres (She/her)

Maria Torres is entering her second year with SBIRT and brings 11 years of experience in education. She has taught in the Peace Corps in Madagascar, working in Seattle and Bellevue supporting students and families, and now serves as the GSA advisor at Eckstein. Maria enjoys building Legos, cooking, paddle boarding, and exploring new cities. She holds a degree from Western Washington University.

Tavar Proctor (He/him)

Tavar has been with the SBIRT program since its initial implementation in 2018. He has been in education since 2015, starting as a paraprofessional with SPS, and has a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Interdisciplinary Studies. Tavar has been at Franklin as the Prevention and Intervention Specialist since 2022. He also serves as the boys’ basketball coach at Franklin. Tavar is at peace when spending quality time with his family.

Andrew Brown (He/him)

Drew has been a part of the SBIRT program since 2020 and has been an SPS employee for over 10 years. In addition to coordinating the SBIRT program at Hamilton, Drew coaches basketball, serves as an advisor for ASB, and hosts after-school clubs. Prior to his work with SPS, Drew worked with youth in the foster care system. To stay happy and healthy, Drew enjoys golfing, travel, and pretending to be a master baker.

Omari Guidry (He/him)

This is Omari’s third year working within the SBIRT program at Ingraham. He has been working in education for ten years. Omari finds joy in sports.

Daniel Adjei (He/him)

Daniel has been with the SBIRT program for the past seven years and with the district for nine years, previously working as an Instructional Assistant. Daniel also runs an after-school soccer club and supports Jane Addams’ BSU. Coaching soccer, playing video games, and eating are some of the activities that help him stay happy and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Jack Knight (He/him)

Jack has worked with SBIRT for four years and has a decade of experience as an educator in public schools. He loves sharing his passion for music with SPS students through programs like Eckstein Recording Studio, Eagle News, SEL podcasting, and after-school Rock Band. In his free time, he enjoys playing with his band, the Coozies, and spending quality time with his wife and kids.

Jim Proctor-Mills (He/him)

Jim Proctor

Jim Proctor-Mills, known by the students as Mr. J., has worked at McClure for nearly three years, initially working in the Safety and Security department before transferring to Prevention and Intervention. In addition to this, he coaches basketball and volleyball and serves as the BSU advisor. When he’s not supporting our students and families, he enjoys cooking and spending quality time with his family.

Abdul Luna (He/him)

This is Abdul’s 5th year as a Prevention and Intervention Specialist. He has worked with students in different capacities for over eight years, previously running after-school groups and working as an IA. He is proud to facilitate the Men of Meany African American Boys Group, as well as Meany’s ping pong and Lego clubs. Abdul can be found tinkering with things and enjoying an audiobook to find center.

Molly Wise (She/her)

Molly has been working within the SBIRT program since 2023 and within SPS since 2018. She is a member of the Care Team and MTSS teams at WMS. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ethnic Studies and Gender & Sexuality Studies from the University of Washington in 2018. Prior to SBIRT, Molly worked in special education. The things keep Molly healthy and happy are cooking and traveling.

Kerri Anderson (She/her)

Kerri has been working within the SBIRT program since 2022. As the parent of four daughters who attended Whitman, Kerri has strong ties to the community. Prior to SBIRT, Kerri worked 16 years as a substitute teacher for SPS. She has an MBA from WSU, and a teaching certificate from the UW. The things that keep Kerri healthy and happy are spending time with family, travel, and hiking.
