Seattle Public Schools Levy Renewals on February 2025 Ballot

Seattle Public Schools (SPS) is asking voters to renew two levies in the Feb. 11, 2025, election. These levies continue funding to support the programs, services, and infrastructure that students and staff rely on daily.

The Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) Levy bridges the gap between state funding and the resources SPS students need to succeed. The EP&O levy helps continue funding for programs and services like special education, school security, multilingual services, transportation, school supplies and student support staff. It also helps pay for activities not funded by the state, like sports, art, and music. This levy continues funding for more than 15% of our operating budget. Read more about the EP&O levy

The Building Excellence VI (BEX VI) Capital Levy ensures school buildings remain safe, and healthy for learning. This levy funds districtwide safety and security upgrades, as well as renovations, repairs and replacements of school buildings, makes energy efficiency improvements, and funds 90% of the district’s classroom technology needs. “These levies allow us to continue providing safe, modern learning environments and essential programs for all students,” said Superintendent Brent Jones. “We’re committed to sharing information with our community about the role these levies play in supporting our schools.”

These renewals are not new taxes—they continue the funding Seattle voters have provided for decades.

SPS will host informational sessions in the coming months to provide additional details about the levies. Ballots for the election will be mailed in late January. To learn more, visit the SPS levy page.
