It is the policy of the Seattle School Board that the Superintendent may implement a commendable employee service program and recognition award program for certificated and classified school employees.  The program should be designed to recognize exemplary service, special achievement and outstanding contributions by an individual, or group of individuals, in the performance of their duties as employees of the district. The purchase of certificates, plaques, or other acknowledgement of service, is permissible so long as the cost for such recognition is nominal (under $50 per recognized employee) and consistent with state law. Monetary awards as a part of the employee recognition program are not permitted.
