- Minutes of the January 6, 2021 Oversight Work Session and Operations Committee of the Whole, January 21, 2021 Board Special Meeting, and January 27, 2021 Regular Board Meeting
- Personnel Report
- Approval of the 2021-22 and 2022-23 School Year Calendars (Exec, January 20, for Consideration) Approval of this item would approve the 2021-22 and 2022-23 school year calendars as attached to the Board Action Report with any minor, non-substantive additions, deletions or modification deemed necessary by the Superintendent.
- Approval of Annual Highly Capable Program Plan for 2020-2021 (SSC&I, January 12, for Consideration) Approval of this item would approve the Highly Capable Program Plan (as attached to the Board Action Report) for submission to OSPI for school year 2020-2021 to support Highly Capable Services, the district’s eligibility identification process, development of improved services, and that the School Board authorize the Superintendent to apply for the allocation of funds from OSPI.
- Partial Waiver of Board Policy No. 2415, High School Graduation Requirements, to Suspend Service Learning Requirement for Graduating Seniors (SSC&I, January 12, for Approval) Approval of this item would approve that the School Board temporarily suspend the provision in Board Policy No. 2415, High School Graduation Requirements, requiring that graduating seniors complete 60 hours of service learning for graduation from today’s date until August 31, 2021.
- BEX IV, BTA IV, and BEX V: Purchase of Student and Staff Technology for West Woodland, Coe, and Magnolia Elementary Schools, plus additional portable and capacity classrooms districtwide (Ops, January 14, for Approval) Approval of this item would authorize the Superintendent to execute purchase orders through various vendors for a total not-to-exceed the amount of $1,250,000, plus Washington State sales tax, during fiscal years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022, and to take any necessary actions to implement the purchase orders.
- BEX V: Resolution 2020/21-14 West Seattle Elementary/Walt Hundley Playfield parcel exchange surplus (Ops, January 14, for Approval) Approval of this item would approve Resolution 2020/21-14 providing authorization to surplus a portion of the Walt Hundley Playfield located on the West Seattle Elementary School property. Board approval of this resolution will allow the school district to proceed with the process of exchanging a parcel of district property for a parcel of property owned by Seattle Parks and Recreation.
- BEX V: Award Architectural & Engineering Contract P1756 to Miller Hayashi Architects LLC for the Franklin High School Gym Roof Replacement and Seismic Upgrades project (Ops, January 14, for Approval) Approval of this item would authorize the Superintendent to execute A/E contract P1756 with Miller Hayashi Architects, LLC in the amount of $312,290 for the Franklin High School Gym Roof Replacement and Seismic Upgrades project, with any minor additions, deletions, modifications and actions deemed necessary by the Superintendent to implement the contract.
- BEX V: Resolution 2020/21-16 Racial Imbalance Analysis for Lincoln High School Phase 2 project (Ops, January 14, for Approval) Approval of this item would approve Resolution 2020/21-16 certifying that the proposed Lincoln High School Phase 2 project will not create or aggravate racial imbalance as defined by WAC 392-342-025.
- BEX IV: Final Acceptance of Contract P5100 with Hellas Construction, Inc., for the Cleveland High School Athletic Field Improvements project (Ops, January 14, for Approval) Approval of this item would accept the work performed under Contract P5100 with Hellas Construction, Inc., for the Cleveland High School Athletic Field Improvements project as final.
- BEX V: Final Acceptance of Contract P5146 with Olympic Peninsula Construction, Inc., for the North Beach Elementary School, Sacajawea Elementary School & Jane Addams Middle School Pavement Repairs project (Ops, January 14, for Approval) Approval of this item would accept the work performed under Contract P5146 with Olympic Peninsula Construction, Inc., for the North Beach Elementary School, Sacajawea Elementary School & Jane Addams Middle School Pavement Repairs project as final.

C. Action Items
- Resolution 2020/21-18, Transitioning Seattle Public Schools to 100% Clean and Renewable Energy (Ops, January 14, for Consideration) Approval of this item would approve Resolution 2020/21-18, committing Seattle Public Schools to transitioning the district to 100% clean, renewable energy, as attached to this Board Action Report. (Materials updated 2/10/21)
- BEX V: Approval of Budget Transfer and Construction Change Order #5 for the West Seattle High School Roof Replacement project (Ops, February 4, for Approval) Approval of this item would approve the transfer in the amount of $1,900,000 from the BEX V Program Contingency to the West Seattle High School Roof Replacement project budget and authorize the Superintendent to approve Construction Change Order #5 with Wayne’s Roofing, Inc,. in the amount of $1,500,000, plus Washington State sales tax, with any minor additions, deletions, and modifications deemed necessary by the Superintendent, and to take any necessary actions to implement both the fund transfer and construction change order. Immediate action is in the best interest of the District. (Introduction & Action)
D. Introduction Items
- Hiring of Dr. Brent C. Jones as Interim Superintendent and approval of Interim Superintendent’s Employment Agreement Approval of this item would move that the School Board hire Dr. Brent C. Jones as Interim Superintendent with an official start date of July 1, 2021, based on the terms of the Interim Superintendent’s Employment Agreement for Dr. Jones, as attached to this Board Action Report, and authorize Board President Chandra Hampson to take the necessary steps to sign and implement the Agreement.
