Consent Agenda Items Previously Introduced

  1. Approval of Board Resolution No. 2023/24-4 resolving that those persons newly elected November 7, 2023 to the Seattle School District Board of Directors be designated to attend the Annual Conference of the Washington State School Directors’ Association, to be held November 16-18, 2023, as representatives of the district  Approval of this item would adopt Resolution No. 2023/24-4, as attached to this Board Action Report, resolving that those persons newly elected November 7, 2023 to the Seattle School District Board of Directors be designated to attend the Annual Conference of the Washington State School Directors’ Association, to be held November 16-18, 2023, as representatives of the district.
  2. Approval of Guiding Principles for the Building Excellence (BEX) VI Capital Levy Approval of this item would approve the guiding principles for the BEX VI Capital Levy as attached to this Board action report. (Updated 10/11/23)
    • Amendment 1 to the Board Action Report titled “Approval of Guiding Principles for the Building Excellence (BEX) VI Capital Levy” (Hampson) Approval of this amendment would amend the first bullet point in the SPS Building Excellence (BEX) VI Capital Levy Guiding Principles attached to the underlying Board Action Report to include the phrase “history, since time immemorial” as follows: “Place-Based Strategies. Honor the communities in which our schools are located and comprised of through place-based approaches. Our project selection and ranking process will consider the land, resources, and history, since time immemorial, of each setting and its people.” Immediate action is in the best interest of the district.   1. Approval of the 2023-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement between Seattle School District No. 1 and International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302. Approval of this item would approve the 2023 – 2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement between Seattle School District No. 1 and Local 302 and authorize the Superintendent, on behalf of the Board of Directors, to execute the Agreement in the form attached to the School Board Action Report, with any minor additions, deletions, and modifications deemed necessary by the Superintendent and to take any necessary actions to implement the terms of this agreement. Immediate action is in the best interest of the District. (Introduction & Action)

D. Introduction Items

  1. Board Governance Policy Manual Financial Planning and Budgeting (Guardrail section) and Administration of the Annual Budget and Financial Reporting, numbering/lettering system consistent with the Board Governance Policy Manual as adopted Approval of this item would adopt Board Governance Policy Manual Policies Financial Planning and Budgeting, and Administration of the Annual Budget and Financial Reporting as attached to the Board Action Report. These will be included in the Guardrails section of the Board Governance Policy Manual. (Added 10/6/23)
