Digital Learning Cohort

Digital Learning Cohort Overview:

During each school year, the SPS Digital Learning Team works with a different cadre of educators to build expertise in digital learning strategies that will meet the needs of our students, families, and communities. The 2024-25 cohort will explore the use of A.I. tools to enhance teaching and learning.

Together, educators foster leadership for and integration of digital learning strategies, with an unapologetic emphasis on students furthest from educational justice.

The 2024-25 A.I. Cohort project consists of three components: Professional Learning Meetings, School Group Meetings, and Job-alike meetings.

2024-2025 A.I. Meeting Goals

  • Professional Learning – Equip building leadership and instructional staff with the AI knowledge and skills needed to lead instructional change.
  • School Group – Empower school leaders and educators to create and share school guidelines and policies that amplify the safe, effective, and ethical use of AI across their school.
  • Job-Alike (New for 2024-2025) – Prepare educators to authentically integrate AI into their content areas, while centering student learning to create engaging and personalized learning experiences for students.

Benefits for Staff and Students

Develop School AI Guidelines:

  • Clear and consistent school guidelines around AI use will be developed and shared with staff, students, and families.

Share Best Pedagogical Practices:

  • Educators will learn and practice the best pedagogical strategies involving A.I., leading to more engaging and effective instruction that benefits students by catering to diverse learning styles and needs.

Identify and Mitigate Bias

  • Sessions will focus on evaluating and mitigating risks of biased AI information, with educators identifying biases, using an anti-racist lens, and discussing these issues with staff and students to find solutions.

Ensure Access for Future Careers

  • Staff will ensure equitable access to AI education and tools for all students, preparing students for success in a 21st century world.
