K-3 classrooms and Potential Preschool and Child Care Provider Changes

Between now and April 1, 2018, schools will be developing their 2018-19 school budgets. Although district funds remain tight there is new state money for more K-3 teachers. This means schools have to find additional classrooms.

Where schools are overcrowded that means:

    • Working with facilities to find or create spaces.
    • Working with principals/building leadership team (BLTs) on best use of staff.
    • Working with partners and preschools or day cares if those spaces are needed for classrooms.

As we have in the past every effort will be made to find alternative spaces (multipurpose rooms) for community-based organizations (CBOs) to minimize effects on partners and parents. Once final decisions are made, families will be notified of their school's changes.
