    Celebrating New Schools with Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies

    Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies to mark the opening of five schools for the 2017-18 school year

    Five new school buildings will open their doors to students on Wednesday, September 6. Seattle Public Schools has grown by 8,000 students in the past 10 years and has welcomed many new teachers to reduce class sizes in grades 1-3. Community celebrations will be held to commemorate the opening of these new schools.

    Olympic Hills Elementary School

    Thursday, Aug. 31, 12 p.m., Olympic Hills Elementary School, a new replacement building to house the existing school program, located at 13018 20th Ave. NE, Seattle 98125

    Meany Middle School

    Thursday, Aug. 31, 4 p.m., Meany Middle School, a modernized existing building to become an attendance area middle school, located at 301 21st Ave. E., Seattle 98112

    Cascadia Elementary School

    Tuesday, Sept. 5, 10:30 a.m., Cascadia Elementary School, a newly constructed building to house the existing Highly Capable Cohort school program, on the campus that also houses Robert Eagle Staff Middle School, located at 1700 North 90th St., Seattle, 98103

    Licton Springs K-8 School

    Tuesday, Sept. 5, 12 p.m., Licton Springs K-8 School, an existing school program to be located in a wing of the new Robert Eagle Staff Middle School building, located at 1330 North 90th Street., Seattle, 98103
