Mental Health Services for Seattle Public Schools

The Mental Health Program at Seattle Public Schools supports the promotion and access of mental health and wellness through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). The program’s department aligns district-wide practices with evidence-based procedures, state mandates, and culturally-responsive services within the framework of MTSS to enhance student well-being.

Grief and Loss Support

Grief is a natural response to loss, representing the emotional suffering that accompanies the absence of someone or something deeply cherished. It often manifests as overwhelming pain, bringing forth a range of challenging emotions—from shock and anger to disbelief, guilt, and profound sadness. This grief can also impact physical health, disrupting sleep, appetite, and cognitive function. These reactions are normal, and the intensity of grief correlates with the significance of the loss.

Remember, you are not alone in your grief journey. There are community spaces, resources, and supportive networks available to accompany you through this process.
