    Equity and Race Advisory Committee Accepting Nominations

    Seattle Public Schools is recruiting new members for the Equity and Race Advisory Committee for the 2015-16 school year.

    The deadline for nominations or applications for the Equity and Race Advisory Committee is Friday, Sept. 18, 2015.

    The Equity and Race Advisory Committee advises and supports the superintendent and his senior staff to ensure educational equity and excellence in each of our schools and central office departments.

    The committee's work involves integrating research-based practices and procedures to institutionalize racial equity in education at Seattle Public Schools with the goal of ensuring the academic success and socio-emotional development of every student.

    The committee will be comprised of parents, families, guardians, community members, city representatives, higher education, teachers, staff and instructional leaders who reflect the diversity of Seattle Public School families.

    Time commitment requirements include one to two meetings a month plus a report and presentation on the implementation of the Ensuring Educational and Racial Equity Policy to the Superintendent in 2016.
