    Parent Accounts in Naviance College and Career Planning Tool

    Seattle Public Schools uses Naviance to support our middle and high school students with college and career planning. With Naviance, students can explore college and career paths, analyze skills and talents with a career and personality assessment, and develop plans to stay on track and reach academic goals.

    Parents and guardians of students in grades 6th through 12th will now the opportunity to create a Naviance account to view their student’s activity and add colleges to the prospective college list. You will need a valid user account on the Source, the district’s parent portal, before creating your Naviance parent/guardian user account.

    High School Families

    Starting November 20, 2019, invitations to register for a Naviance user account will be sent to all parents/guardians who have Source accounts and whose student or students are “opt in” for using Naviance. Look for an email in your inbox (or your junk folder) from naviance@seattleschools.org.

    Middle School Families

    In mid-December 2019, invitations to register for a Naviance user account will be sent to all parents/guardians who have Source accounts and whose student or students are “opt in” for using Naviance. Look for an email in your inbox (or your junk folder) from naviance@seattleschools.org.

    Benefits of Naviance

    For high school students:

    • Explore college possibilities and career fields
    • Create a four-year course plan and stay on track for high school graduation
    • Understand financial options for college, including a scholarship search
    • Identify best-fit colleges, college majors, and careers fields
    • Develop resumes and portfolios for job and college applications, including their transcript and letters of recommendation from teachers

    For middle school students:

    • Learn about themselves
    • Become aware of the wide range of career possibilities available to them
    • Build a strong foundation for high school success (course selection, grades, graduation)

    For families:

    • Research career and college possibilities with your student
    • Help your student take ownership of the college and career planning process
    • Help your student examine their strengths, interests, and goals
    • Explore financial options for college, including a scholarship search and financial aid information
    • Stay up-to-date on time sensitive dates and deadlines

    Before you set up your Naviance user account

    Here are the requirements for a parent or guardian Naviance account:

    • You must be the parent or guardian of a 6th - 12th grade student who is currently attending a school in Seattle Public Schools.
    • Your student is currently “opt in” to use Naviance.
    • You must have a valid email address for each student in the district's student information system (SIS).
    • You must have an active parent or guardian account for the Source. Read more about setting up an account on the Source.
    • You must have received a Naviance registration code sent by email from the district.
    • You must use the same email address used for your Source account to set up your Naviance account.

    New Source Accounts: Registration and Support

    If you do not currently have a Source account, create one by following the set up instructions. If you register for a new Source account, you can expect to receive an email invitation for Naviance within two business days after your Source access is granted. To request support for your Source account, please send an email to sourcesupport@seattleschools.org.

    Opting your student in to Naviance

    If your student is not currently set as “opt in” to Naviance and you would like to change that preference, please contact naviance@seattleschools.org.

    Naviance Accounts: Registration and Support

    For step-by-step instructions to register, please review the parent and guardian tour. Once you register for a Naviance account, it will remain active as long as your student is “opt in” for Naviance and enrolled in the district and you are identified in the student information system as a parent or guardian. To request support for your Naviance account, please send an email to naviance@seattleschools.org.
