Microsoft Teams will be Used to Support Remote Learning Districtwide

Seattle Public Schools will be using Microsoft Teams districtwide to support remote learning. Teams is a safe and secure option for our students and staff. It integrates with our existing systems and learning platforms, including Schoology.

It provides a safe way to video, call, or chat with students, with a record kept of all activity. Many other districts are also using this as their platform, like Bellevue, Tacoma, and Los Angeles Unified.

The district has worked with our partners at Microsoft to improve Teams in response to feedback from families and educators. Improvements include:

    • Up to 49 people can now be seen on the screen at once
    • Translations into three times the number of languages than Zoom
    • Closed captioning
    • Features for seeing ASL translators
    • Breakout rooms will soon be available

We will continue to work with Microsoft to ensure Teams meets the needs of our students, families, and staff. Read more about how students access Teams and email to support remote learning.
