Welcome to the 2020-21 School Year!

We're about to kick-off another school year. While this year is so much different than how we usually start school, I am hopeful as we embark on this journey together. Staff, and our educators, have been working hard over the summer to provide high quality remote learning.

I know that this will require a strong partnership with parents and families. There is no doubt that this fall will be challenging, and I am thankful for the ways our families, educators, and staff are working together to help all students succeed no matter the circumstances. Together, I am confident that we are on the best path forward for starting school again while keeping our staff, families, and students healthy.

    Sincerely,
    Superintendent Denise Juneau

Hi, I’m Superintendent Denise Juneau. We’re about to kick-off another school year, my third at Seattle Public Schools. And while this year is so much different than how we usually start school, I am hopeful as we embark on this next journey together.

Last spring, we were responding to an unexpected crisis. And I know that we did not always hit the mark for our families, staff, and students.

We are committed to doing better. We are committed to doing whatever it takes to help all students succeed, no matter the circumstances.

Staff, and our educators, have been working hard over the summer to provide high-quality remote learning, consistent platforms and technology, and predictable schedules.

Things that you – our families, our staff, our students – told us you needed this fall.

And, we will continue to listen, and work to continually make our scholars’ experience a good one

One thing we have all learned during this pandemic is to expect the unexpected. While we may not have all of the answers during this ever-changing time, we will continue to refine and strengthen our approach in partnership with you. We will remain flexible so we can make adjustments as necessary.

Together, I am confident that we are on the best path forward for starting school again this fall while keeping our staff, families, and students healthy.

    Thank you.
