Seattle Public Schools Community Meetings: School Closures and Consolidations

Seattle Public Schools (SPS) Superintendent Brent Jones has identified four schools for potential closure and consolidation. This preliminary recommendation is to aid in rightsizing and stabilizing our school district.

SPS is holding community meetings for the schools recommended for closure. Initial meeting dates follow.

  • Sanislo Elementary – Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 6-7 p.m. at Sanislo
  • Districtwide, online – Thursday, Nov. 14, at 6:30 p.m.
  • Stevens Elementary – Friday, Nov. 15, 6-7 p.m. at Stevens
  • North Beach Elementary – Monday, Nov. 18, 6-7 p.m. at North Beach

Media attending should RSVP to the district media team at spsmedia@seattleschools.org. Cameras will be allowed inside the meeting, but we ask that media be discreet and non-intrusive. On-camera interviews must take place outside the meeting space.

These meetings are to ensure impacted families have the chance to fully understand the recommendation, ask questions, and share ideas for how we could implement a potential closure and consolidation with care and support.
